Chastity Fitzhugh\nlooked up at the gentle tap on her office door. She closed the ledger\nrecording the daily expenditure of the Workhouse. \"Come.\"\nThe door opened, and Helene peeked in. \"You have a candidate?\"\nChastity asked.

\n\n

\"The perfect\none.\"

\n\n

\"Come in,\nHelene. Sit. Tell me about her.\" Chastity folded her hands,\nwaiting.

\n\n

Helene sat down\nopposite the desk, crossed her legs, and leaned back. She studied\nChastity, a faint smile on her lips.

\n\n

\"So you approve\nof her?\"

\n\n

The elegant woman\nnodded. \"I've looked into her background, and all seems to be\nabove board and in accordance to her story.\" She tapped the\nfabric of her skirt in her lap. \"There's no way to be certain,\nbut my intuition tells me she possesses the necessary aptitude.\"

\n\n

\"The ability to\nwithstand the most intense cunny torture.\"

\n\n

I believe Helene has explained what the\nInstitute attempts to do for ladies who have fallen upon difficult\ncircumstances.\"

Phoebe nodded and\nsmiled. \"Indeed she has, and I was most impressed at the\ngenerosity and charity behind what you do. It is rare for any in our\nsociety to care for the future prospects of ladies, outside of\nmarriage. It seems that apart from being a nanny or governess, vice\nis the only real option, providing the destruction of one's\nreputation and social standing is considered an acceptable price.\"

\"Which is?\"

\n\n

\"Rather than\naccumulating points leading to a permanent income after a determined\nperiod of service, I need you to invest in my family's shipyard now.\nThe assets of the business are sufficient to repay you should the\nenterprise fail, or I do not uphold my end of the bargain, so the\nrisk is minimal. The problem I, my family, face is a shortage of\ncash, not long-term profitability,\" Phoebe said.

\"Not an\nuncommon situation,\" Helene said.

\"You are the\nnewest resident?\" Eliza asked.

\"I'm\nconsidering an arrangement,\" Phoebe said.
